Santa Ninfa was dounded in 1605 by Luigi Arrias Giardina and was destroyed a lot of it (about 80%) by the earthquake of Belice of 1968. It has been entirely rebuilt in the same place, near the mount Calvario.
It is possible still now to see some ruins of buildings destroyed by the earthquake such as the war memorial in Libertà square and some remains of churches as well as the St. Anna Convent.
Near the town there is interesting mountain called Finestrelle (little windows) because there are many tombs which are such as small caves, so that it appears full of holes. It dates back to prehistoric age.
