Santa Ninfa (Zip Code 91029) is 120 km. distant from Agrigento, 190 km. from Caltanissetta, 312 km. from Catania, 231 km. from Enna, 340 km. from Messina, 81 km. from Palermo, 256 km. from Ragusa, 337 km. from Siracusa, 47 km. from Trapani which province it belongs to.

The municipality has 5.480 inhabitants and its area is 6.380 hectares for a density of population of 86 inhabitants per square kilometre. It rises on an inside hill zone and is 465 metres above sea-level.

Agricultural centre produces vegetables, corn, olives, grapes and fruit. 

Santa Ninfa was dounded in 1605 by Luigi Arrias Giardina and was destroyed a lot of it (about 80%) by the earthquake of Belice of 1968. It has been entirely rebuilt in the same place, near the mount Calvario. 


It is possible still now to see some ruins of buildings destroyed by the earthquake such as the war memorial in Libertà square and some remains of churches as well as the St. Anna Convent.

Near the town there is interesting mountain called Finestrelle (little windows) because there are many tombs which are such as small caves, so that it appears full of holes. It dates back to prehistoric age.
