Belmonte Mezzagno, in the Palermo province, was founded in the 18th century on the former fief of Mezzagno. The Chiesa Madre, built in the close of the 1700s thanks to Prince Giuseppe Ventimiglia di Belmonte, is the most attractive building in town. Its elegant façade rises high surrounded by a collection of simple houses in the background. It preserves two outstanding paintings by Pietro Novelli dedicated to Santa Rosalia and the Holy Family.
